Recording of Running With Scissors began in October 1998, with the first track recorded being 'Germs'. A couple of days later, he recorded 'Truck Drivin' Song', 'Albuquerque', 'Your Horoscope For Today' and 'My Baby's In Love With Eddie Vedder' (The rest of the original songs on the album).

Although 'The Weird Al Show Theme' was recorded in 1997, it is not counted as it was not recorded in the actual Running With Scissors recording sessions.

Al took a break from recording to write his parodies from '98 to '99, then returned to the studio on the 19th of April, 1999 to record all of the parodied except 'The Saga Begins' and the polka medley, 'Polka Power!', which he recorded the following day.

The cover art for Running With Scissors was shot on May 9th, 1999.

Easter eggsEdit

  • The Compact Disc of Running With Scissors is an Enhanced CD. When loaded into a computer, disc displays a folder named 'SECRET FILE!'. In this folder there is a movie file, compiled with some scenes from 'There's No Going Home", a special Al did for the Disney channel in 1996.
